Head Start
Head Start is a free, comprehensive program for children ages 3 years to kindergarten eligible whose families meet income guidelines (100% of Poverty). Children with diagnosed and suspected disabilities receive added consideration for enrollment. Furthermore, Head Start partners with the local school districts (LEAs) to ensure that each child with a diagnosed disability obtains the needed supports established in the child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) to learn and grow in preparation for kindergarten. Funded through the Department of Health and Human Services, Head Start has 306 enrollment slots with part-day (128 days/year), full-day (146 days/year), and full-day extended year (174 days/year) options. Currently, CAECI Head Start operates four days per week with classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
